BUILDING GREEN
In 1998 Tru Truss purchased our first “round ended web” saw. Our goal was to optimize the lumber, minimize waste. The first saw is no longer with us; but the newest saw allows us to cut 90% of our webs in 6” increments with a by-product that is approximately 95% clean sawdust and used for animal bedding, our end result is a small amout of actual wood scrap to be recycled.
We take the environment seriously, and we continue to become a greener company. We've implemented changes within our company to reduce environmental impact:
- Recycle metal plates.
- Long cut-off lumber is used for webs - short truss members - in our trusses.
- Wood is a renewable resource.
- Steel is a recyclable resource.
- Our metal connector plates contain a minimum of 25% recycled content.
- Trusses minimize the amount of material used.
- Our trusses are designed to use the materials most efficiently.
- All unusable smaller cut off pieces are recycled.
- The majority of our truss webs are cut with our round end web saw. This saw produces zero waste, only sawdust that is recycled into bedding material for animals.
As individuals we have joined together in our concern for the planet, we continue implementing changes to minimize our carbon foot print.

WOOD TRUSSES
Did you know wood trusses use less lumber than conventional framing? The Wood Truss Council of America build two identical homes - the home utilizing wood roof trusses used 7,353 boards of lumber while the conventionally framed house used 11,543 boards of lumber.
